The Hummingbird’s Passage –A Sacred Ceremony Pipe of Clavo Huasca & Palo Sangre
In the heart of the Amazon, where the forest pulses with unseen wisdom, a sacred alliance has taken form—a one-of-a-kind ceremonial pipe, crafted from the revered woods of Clavo Huasca and Palo Sangre, adorned with the spirits of Hummingbird, Frog, and Turtle—the messengers, the guardians, and the keepers of time.
This pipe is an instrument of deep communion, a bridge between worlds. The beak of the Hummingbird, the great intercessor, points the way forward, carrying prayers into the unseen with precision and grace. Frog, a master of transitions, holds the stem within his mouth—symbolizing the purification of the voice, the power of intention, and the wisdom of surrender. Beneath them, Tortoise serves as the foundation—a guardian of ancient knowledge, grounding the user in the slow, deliberate rhythm of the earth.
The Spirit of Clavo Huasca
At the core of this sacred creation is Clavo Huasca (Tynanthus panurensis)—a vine with a fragrance as rich as its spirit. Known as a plant of warmth, clarity, and unlocking, Clavo Huasca moves like a guiding hand through the unseen, activating the senses, igniting inner fire, and dissolving blockages that obscure one’s true path. In dieta, she is known to awaken perception, enhance vision, and deepen the connection to both spirit and song. Her wood carries the whispers of the vine’s embrace, offering its bearer a profound anchor in both presence and flow.
Accented with Palo Sangre (Brosimum rubescens), the wood of vitality, protection, and strength, this pipe embodies the resilient heart of the jungle. Its deep red tones mirror the lifeblood of the earth, a sacred force of renewal and power. Together, these two sacred woods create a harmony between the awakening flame of Clavo Huasca and the steadfast protection of Palo Sangre—a synergy of movement and stillness, passion and presence.
A Pipe for Deep Work
This is a pipe for the one who listens. For the one who walks the invisible pathways, led by the hum of the hummingbird’s wings. For the one who seeks truth in the breath of the jungle and honors the ancestral ways with reverence.
Each element—Hummingbird, Frog, Turtle, Clavo Huasca, and Palo Sangre—has been brought together with intention, respect, and the deepest craftsmanship, resulting in a ceremonial tool unlike any other. The maker’s mark, an imprint of the hands that shaped it, is displayed above the stem—a signature of the lineage that carries these traditions forward.
A Sacred Offering
This pipe is a companion to dieta, ceremony, and the path of deep engagement. It is one of a kind, never to be replicated, holding within it the energies of flight, transformation, and timeless wisdom.
May this extraordinary pipe guide the breath, the prayer, and the journey, as it was always meant to.

Plant Spirit Medicine is a form of spiritual remediation rooted in ancestral traditions that combines classical Chinese~ Five Element theory, the indigenous practice of calling upon plant spirits, and the Animism religion (the attribution of a soul to plants, inanimate objects, and natural phenomena.) Plant Spirit Medicine recognizes that like humans, plants have spirit, and their spirit has the unique capacity to touch and rebuild the spirit of a human being and restore us to our own essential nature. Our ancestors lived this way–-an existence in which there is no illusion of separation from nature. They would make friends with the spirits of nature and call upon them for restoration and other everyday affairs. This ancient practice was remembered, revitalized, and reintroduced by the late teacher and healer, Eliot Cowan, and has proven to be as effective in today’s world as in times past. Modern people are once again turning to plants for guidance and for their ability to regenerate spirit.
