SERFOR PERUVIAN PALO SANTO
In the sun-kissed realms of South America, a sacred tree known as Palo Santo, or "Holy Wood," weaves its story into the rich tapestry of ancient wisdom and spiritual practices. For generations, indigenous cultures have revered Palo Santo for its profound spiritual significance, utilizing its fragrant smoke in ceremonies and rituals to purify spaces and forge a connection with the divine.
At Casa del Colibri, we are not just purveyors of Palo Santo; we are stewards of a tradition committed to sustainability, fair trade, and conservation. Our journey begins with a deep respect for the sacred cycle of nature. Only when Palo Santo trees naturally fall to the earth and are left to remain on the ground for many years are they considered for harvest. This meticulous process, guided by the hands of time, allows the wood to absorb the energies of the earth and sun, resulting in a rich resin and enhanced spiritual properties.
Palo Santo, with its fragrant smoke believed to transcend the physical realm, becomes a vessel for prayers and intentions. The significance of Palo Santo in the religious landscapes of South America is profound, and its use is steeped in centuries-old traditions.
In this sacred journey, Casa del Colibri proudly offers SERFOR certified Peruvian Palo Santo. SERFOR, the National Forest and Wildlife Service of Peru, stands as the guardian of ethical and sustainable practices in forestry. Their certification ensures that the Peruvian Palo Santo provided by Casa del Colibri is sourced from naturally fallen trees, aligning with principles that prioritize the preservation of ecosystems and respect for the sacred life cycle of the trees.
Choosing SERFOR certified Peruvian Palo Santo from Casa del Colibri is not just a selection of sacred wood; it is an embrace of sustainability, ethical sourcing, and the preservation of intricate ecosystems. The certification becomes a seal of approval, affirming that every aromatic wisp carries not just the essence of Palo Santo but the echoes of responsible stewardship.
Embark on a journey with Casa del Colibri, where the aromatic whispers of SERFOR certified Peruvian Palo Santo resonate with ancient traditions, spirituality, and an unwavering dedication to the earth. In each fragrant plume, discover the harmonious dance between reverence for the sacred and a commitment to a future where Palo Santo continues to thrive, embraced by the hands of those who honor its essence.

Peruvian Palo Santo Certified by the National Forest Service and Wildlife of Peru, Sustainable High Resin Palo Santo natura (Bursera graveolens).
VERY HIGH RESIN
Palo Santo is a South American tree, Bursera graveolens and is a relative of the Frankincense tree of Africa, Myrrh, and Copal. It is part of the citrus family and has notes of pine, mint, and lemon.
- Contains a high concentration of d-limonene, an aromatic molecule found in citrus and frankincense among other botanicals.
-The smoke clears away old energy and the scent is centering and grounding, making it a great tool for smudging or clearing and for use prior to meditation.
-Using palo santo incense reduces unwanted odors, bacteria, and viruses. Also, it's pleasant and fresh smoke works well in keeping away mosquitoes and other flying insects which is one of the prime uses for the people who live in Ecuador and Peru.
At Casa del Colibri, we believe in the intelligence of plants and the part their gifts play in our health and well being. Committed to being ethical and respectful stewards of the jungle and it's tribal communities, we hold the highest of sustainability standards while producing exceptional quality rainforest botanicals and offering hand made indiginous goods and ceremonial supplies. We hold dear these medicinal herbs, saving seed for future plantings and protecting them for future generations.
Plant Spirit Medicine is a form of spiritual remediation rooted in ancestral traditions that combines classical Chinese~ Five Element theory, the indigenous practice of calling upon plant spirits, and the Animism religion (the attribution of a soul to plants, inanimate objects, and natural phenomena.) Plant Spirit Medicine recognizes that like humans, plants have spirit, and their spirit has the unique capacity to touch and rebuild the spirit of a human being and restore us to our own essential nature. Our ancestors lived this way–-an existence in which there is no illusion of separation from nature. They would make friends with the spirits of nature and call upon them for restoration and other everyday affairs. This ancient practice was remembered, revitalized, and reintroduced by the late teacher and healer, Eliot Cowan, and has proven to be as effective in today’s world as in times past.
Modern people are once again turning to plants for guidance and for their ability to regenerate spirit.
